Well, I spent a good portion of this afternoon trying to make an image of my old cell phone look presentable. This is what I came up with. Not too bad I hope. Don't forget to comment on this one to let me know what you think.
I built a prototype mini studio for stuff like this. ( A cardboard box with white paper taped to the inside. ) Because of the wonderful world of digital cameras, and being able to adjust the white balance, I just used a couple of shop lights for lighting, and set for tungsten.
I definitely think you could etch out a future in commercial photography Seth. Nice lighting on this one. I also really like some of those shots you got in Glacier on one of the previous post...beautiful!
Overall, it looks good. Other than agreeing with Levi in the standpoint that you could have used a better subject, I'll throw my two cents in as well.
There seems to be a lot of harsh light "lines" or whatever you want to call it, on the phone. You may want to try diffusing your light a little bit more if you can and maybe figuring out a way to have a white background above your head as well. I think that the phone, especially in the chrome, is reflecting the other parts of the room, so the lighting doesn't seem as smooth. Of course the other thing would be to make sure the whole thing is in focus and I'm guessing you were probably taking a real closeup which might be why the phone was a bit blurry on the edges. The last thing would be to see if the light correction could be just a bit more white. I kinda compared it to the palm I saw on verizon's site to get an idea and their lighting seemed almost "steely" where yours had a bit of red or something in it.
Anyway, that's my opinion on some tweaks... definitely don't need to overhaul the process. Just diffuse and maybe put a bedsheet over around your work area or something and that might help a ton.
looks great. it's hard sometimes to get the screen to look good on shots like that (most ads use simulations of a real screen), but the case and background look perfect. i'd buy it!*

Looks good to me Seth. Are you using a light box?
Looks like it was taken by a proffesional! Oh wait it was!

Looks good to the non-professional (me). What I want to know is can you make an action figure look real like Rambo or Optimus Prime or Luke Duke?
looks good--for a treo. might be prettier w/ an apple logo...jk

Hey Seth, Jake is just pretending to know what he's talking about. I would use a quilt over you. That way you could stay warm also.
Garren, I swear, I will pummel you so hard, that they will make an action figure out of me. So BACK OFF! ;-)
BLOG FIGHT!! BLOG FIGHT!!
Jake I sit here behind my computer just typing with almost no fear of your big bloggy threats.
